Vehicle Description Looking for your dream car? Look no further Here is a little insight on the car It was bought in 1948 by a boy, when he turned 16, for $75.
With the help of his father they modified it into a hot rod like the ones he had seen in the Hot Rod Magazine on the streets of Baltimore.
Once finished he drove it until he turned 18,then he joined the service.
Once returning home he drove it for a couple weeks, then parked it into his mother's barn.
That is where the car remained until I bought it 12 years ago.
The car was very solid and had all Henry Ford sheet metal.
I removed the body from the frame, completely dismantled everything.
Then I media blasted all of the sheet metal and frame.
The sheet metal was in nice condition and did not need any patch panels.
The sheet metal was prepped and finished with PPG Concept base coat, clear coat.
The frame was finished in a single stage.
The car did not have a top and the windshield had been chopped 2.
I replaced it with a new stainless steel stauchion and windshield frame, as well as the top bows.
I installed a LeBaron Bonney top and leather interior with an original rubber floor mat.
The rumble seat is also a LeBaron Bonney.
The wiring is an EZ harness with a matched set of Stewat Warner.
The engine is a '48 Mercury 59 AB flathead, it has been bored.
060 and balanced.
It has Offenhauser heads and manifold with two stromberg 94 carburetors, cast iron fenton headers with an aluminum exhaust and petronics ignition.
The front and rear bumpers are stainless steel as well as the headlights.
The transmission is a '40 Ford Pickup with 48 Ford passenger car gears, a scheifer clutch and a pressure plate.
The rear end is the original '33 Ford with 4:
10 gears and '40 Ford hydraulic brakes front and rear with a mustang dual master cylinder.
The electrical system is 12 volt with a power generator.
The wheels are a '48 Mercury chromed reversed 7 wide on the rear and 5 wide on the front.
The tires are Firestone 8:
20x15 on the rear and 5:
60x15 on the front.
It took me 3 years to restore the car.
I have been driving the car for the last 5 years.
It's very dependable and now has 650 miles on it.
