Clinical Nutrition Manager (Dietitian)
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Able to perform all duties of subordinate clinical dietitians Advisor to clinical staff, other allied healthcare professionals, program directors and managers Develops, and implements nutrition therapy programs Assists in the establishment of organizational structure guidelines, performance standards, and reporting requirements and assists in defining lines of authority and supervisory controls essential in carrying out the mission of the service Develops strategic planning goals and objectives for the clinical program Develops and implements nutrition care policies and guidelines for compliance with all regulatory agency requirements (i.e., TJC, AND, ASPEN) and specific VHA guidelines Prepares and submits a variety of clinical reports Conducts performance reviews and competency assessments Develops and implements a Performance Improvement Program to ensure provision of high-quality nutrition care Activities of clinical dietitians, which includes nutrition screening, assessment, monitoring, and education Reviews electronic medical records of patients to substantiate that clinical staff meet established guidelines of care that meet the needs of patients Responds to EEO complaints and unfair labor practice charges Ensures that all clinical nutrition staff meet mandatory and continuing education requirements to assure maintenance of registration status Work Schedule:

Completed a didactic program in dietetics accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), formerly known as the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education (CADE). Education and Supervised Practice:
Completed an ACEND accredited or approved supervised practice program. Supervised practice programs are post-baccalaureate degree programs that provide supervised practice experiences which meet the eligibility requirements and accreditation standards of ACEND, formally known as CADE. Completion of a coordinated program in dietetics fulfills the requirements of a supervised practice program. Time spent in a dietetic internship or supervised practice program does not qualify as creditable experience. Registration/Certification:
Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) the credentialing branch of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics formerly known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Advanced Level Practice Dietitians must possess a minimum of one advanced practice credential relevant to the area of practice, (e.g. Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Board Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition (CSR), Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition (CSG), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), or Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO)). Completion of 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level such as:
Staff dietitian at the full performance level GS-11, Registered dietitian responsible for independently planning, developing and directing all nutrition care activities (e.g., food service and/or clinical nutrition). Registered dietitian serving as important member of the interdisciplinary team of care providers, and focus on offering exceptional nutrition care and guidance to optimize health. Registered dietitian working in a variety of settings, such as hospitals, outpatient centers, residential treatment programs and patient homes; Responsible for using evidence-based approaches to develop menus, counsel patients and provide nutrition care. AND Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

Ability to develop, maintain, and supervise a system of internal reviews and direct quality control and performance improvement studies to assure compliance with various accrediting, regulatory, and agency authorities. Knowledge of the principles of program management and oversight required to develop program goals and objectives, administer and monitor program, evaluate program outcomes/accomplishments, set and redefine priorities, and implement effective solutions in processes and/or systems as needed. Ability to act as a consultant for staff. Ability to determine the continuing education needs of staff and appropriate resources to meet those needs. Knowledge of human resource management principles and the ability to manage/supervise, i.e, plan, organize, delegate, direct, control, review activities of groups of subordinates. The work environment involves everyday risks of discomforts, which require safety precautions typical of hospitals, offices, and meeting rooms. Work includes working closely with others. There may be occasional risk of physical harm from a violent resident that may require special precautions and training to deal with. The physical demands of the work requires light lifting under 15 lbs., light carrying under 15 lbs., the use of fingers, and both hands are required. Reaching above shoulder, walking on uneven or slippery surfaces and standing (4 hrs.), outside and inside environments. Near Vision correctable at 13 to 16 to Jaeger 1 to 4 & Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20-/40 in the other. Both eyes required, and have Depth Perception, Hearing (aid use is permitted). Other (Clear Speech, Emotional Stability). Must be able to Working Closely with others and work alone as well.
