Function as a champion and advocate for the recovery model. Incumbent also serves as a recovery ombudsman to the Chief, Mental Health (MH) Service, program managers, and staff on recovery and implementation of recovery-oriented services. In conjunction with the Chief, Mental Health (MH) Service, the incumbent develops a 3-5-year plan for the facility that identifies staged implementation of recovery-oriented services (e.g., use of recovery plans). Coordinates the evaluation of recovery implementation at the facility and reporting results to the National Recovery Coordinator. Implements measures to assess recovery policy and procedure adherence, as well as assess the extent that the recovery model is embodied in the Mental Health programs. Incumbent develops a facility recovery education plan for providers and Veterans and their families. Develops an ongoing education plan for providers which includes, but is not limited to; recurrent didactic presentations about elements of recovery (e.g., recovery plans) and recovery implementation by experts; recurrent presentations by recovering individuals, especially Veterans; information about community mental health support groups and other resources and how to make referrals; information about VA and national recovery materials and resources and how to access these; information about VA sponsored trainings and education on recovery (e.g., how to communicate recovery to patients and families); availability of recovery posters and brochures; training on cultural competency; and development and coordination of local recovery training as needed. Serves as consultant to Mental Health programs and recovering Veterans in development of peer support groups, consumer counseling, and consumer operated services, as per local needs and resources. Advises Chief, MH on filling peer specialist positions and serve as a consultant to peer specialists. Serves as a Mental Health Liaison to the facility Consumer Council. Collaborates with other VISN LRCs to coordinate a network response to recovery implementation and implementation of central office policies and procedures related to recovery. Participates in facility Mental Health leadership meetings and policy planning groups. Engages in direct clinical services providing recovery oriented care to seriously mentally ill Veterans. Makes rapid assessments and develops crisis management plans to maintain patient in the home, for admission to acute, short term and/or long-term placements. EVIDENCED-BASED PSYCHOTHERAPY COORDINATOR FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities of the EBP Coordinator are to:
Consult with Veterans, families, providers and facility leadership regarding the facility's implementation of evidence-based psychotherapy. Provide ongoing consultation to local staff trained in EBP's to assist with complex cases and clinical issues and to promote fidelity and sustainability. Serve as a liaison with national training programs, VACO and VISN to determine EBP training needs and assist in training selection. Work with facility leadership, program managers, IT staff and providers to ensure local processes and procedures are in place to support the implementation of evidence-based psychotherapies, including the availability of weekly psychotherapy sessions of 1-1.5 hours in length, which are necessary for delivering these focused, time-limited interventions. Assist in tracking locally the utilization and delivery of EBP's and identifying potential local obstacles to EBP utilization. Participate in a national network of Local Evidence-Based Psychotherapy Coordinators to share experiences, provide support, and learn about national VA developments with respect to evidence-based psychotherapy; this will involve training opportunities, national list of communication, and conference calls coordinated by the Project Director of the Local EBP Coordinator Program, the VA Director of Psychotherapy and Psychogeriatrics and program staff. Assist VACO Mental Health Services in disseminating information about upcoming EBP workshops, recruiting appropriate local staff to participate in EBP trainings, and disseminating information about new EBP training resources and program developments. Communicates and treats customers in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner. Resolves conflicts and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately. Effectively communicates with and utilizes other disciplines (e.g., nursing, medicine) to facilitate treatment planning and implementation. Work Schedule:

Must have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grandfathering Provision. The following is the standard grandfathering policy for all title 38 hybrid qualification standards. Please carefully review the qualification standard to determine the specific education and/or licensure/certification/registration requirements that apply to this occupation. (1) All persons employed in VHA in this occupation on the effective date of this qualification standard are considered to have met all qualification requirements for the title, series and grade held, including positive education and licensure or certification that are part of the basic requirements of the occupation. For employees who do not meet all of the basic requirements in this standard, but who met the qualifications applicable to the position at the time they were appointed to it, the following provisions apply:
(2) Such employees in an occupation that requires a licensure or certification, may be reassigned, promoted up to and including the full performance (journey) level, or changed to lower grade within the occupation, but may not be promoted beyond the journey level or placed in supervisory or managerial positions. (3) Employees who are appointed on a temporary basis prior to the effective date of the qualification standard may not have their temporary appointment extended or be reappointed, on a temporary or permanent basis, until they fully meet the basic requirements of the standard. (4) Employees initially grandfathered into this occupation, who subsequently obtain additional education and/or licensure/certification/registration that meet all of the basic requirements of this qualification standard must maintain the required credentials as a condition of employment in the occupation. (5) If an employee who was retained in an occupation listed in 38 U.S.C. 7401(3) under this provision leaves that occupation, the employee loses protected status and must meet the full VA qualification standard requirements in effect at the time of reentry to the occupation. If social workers covered under the grandfathering provision of the 1991 Federal law regarding licensure or certification of VHA social workers leave the GS-0185 social work series, they lose the grandfathering protection. If they choose to return at a later date to the GS-0185 series, they must be licensed or certified to qualify for employment as a social worker. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. The work is primarily sedentary. Assignments. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and variety and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. Program coordinators at the GS- 12 grade level are administratively responsible for a clinical program providing treatment to Veterans in a major specialty area, such as but not limited to:
Spinal Cord Injury, Homeless Continuum Veteran Program, Hospice and Palliative Care Program, Suicide Prevention Program, Veterans Justice Outreach, Caregiver Support Program and Community Nursing Home Program. The program coordinator may be the sole practitioner in this specialty at the facility and typically provide direct patient care services in the program area. The program coordinator oversees the daily operation of the program, develop policies and procedures for program operation, and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They may be responsible for the program's budget, developing and monitoring staff compliance with practice, standards and guidelines on documentation, workload, data entry, ethical practice and service delivery. The program coordinator provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data and computerized programs to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service. They may be responsible for, or contribute to, the program's resource and fiscal management, monitoring control points developing the annual budget, operating within that budget, and accounting for appropriated funds. The program coordinator is administratively responsible for the clinical programming and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They provide leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for assigned staff. They initiate and conduct a variety of program or service audits and complete designated clinical practice audits and reports, including productivity assessments. They oversee program operations and evaluations, identifying areas for improvement, gathering relevant data, assessing the data, developing and implementing ideas for improvement and evaluating efficacy of improvement efforts.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
