, a non-profit Area Agency on Aging, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time older adult Protective Services position located in our Altoona office.
In this position you will investigate reports of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation and self-neglect for consumers over the age of 60.
You will respond to emergency and crisis situations, conduct home visits, complete assessments of capacity and functional abilities as well as arrange for the delivery of services to alleviate substantiated allegations.
This position requires a strong desire for producing quality and accurate work with a results-oriented focus.
The work involves critical and technical thinking and problem solving based on detailed knowledge of all pertinent facts and thorough analysis of relevant details.
There is an intense focus on complex, independent problem solving and self-direction.
The selected candidate must have a positive response to pressure and challenge, be a critical, creative thinker and problem solver who is able to work in a faster than average paced environment, and manage multiple priorities.
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in social work or a related field and at least one year of social service or health care related experience.
In addition, applicants must be a strong consumer advocate who can maintain a balance of objectivity and empathy while dealing with consumers living in stressful or crisis situations, have excellent communication skills, and enjoy working as a team providing support to other staff.
Advanced computer and documentation skills, the ability to work under strict time-frames, continuous access to a fully-insured vehicle, a valid PA driver's license and a proven safe driving record are also required.
The hourly wage will start at $18.
29, depending on experience.
Excellent benefit package includes an optional 4 day work week, a generous amount of paid time off available immediately upon hire, a retirement plan with an annual contribution rate of 7.
5% beginning on the first anniversary date, and group health insurance with a low monthly premium.
