9K a year Nutrition Assistant for Altoona and State College to assist with the Community-based program to support children and families.
You will assist with scheduling, answering phones, and support the administrative work for the team.
Assist and support the professional staff in providing quality services.
This will be done in a manner consistent with efficiency, cost effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
This role is Monday - Friday daylight shifts.
This position is a grant-funded position with no set end date.
Responsibilities:
Participate in outreach activities to increase WIC enrollment as requested by Supervisor.
Maintain computerized clinic schedules for maximum efficiency.
Provide assistance and support to the professional staff.
Determine participant income eligibility in accordance with Agency and Department of Health policies.
Print and issue food instruments in accordance with Department of Health policies.
Maintain participant records in accordance with Agency and Department of Health policies and procedures.
Complete online documentation of all nutrition education contacts, topics and comments.
Provide basic nutrition and health information to participants.
Provide breastfeeding promotion and basic breastfeeding education and support to participants Maintain filing systems at clinic sites.
Pull participant files in preparation for daily and satellite schedules.
Perform anthropometrics measurements and hemoglobin testing for participants in the absence of the CPA.
Complete documentation of nutrition education, food instrument issuance, participant referrals and abuse of services.
Assist participants in Voter Registration as necessary.
Assess and document Immunization Record information.
Assess families' progress in achieving healthy eating goals and provide ongoing nutrition education to support the established goals.
Demonstrate support of Agency mission and philosophy in delivery of services.
Receive incoming calls, clarify the needs of the caller, schedule appointments as required, provide WIC information and forward messages to other staff as appropriate.
Prepare supplies/equipment/laptops for satellite clinic sites.
Perform data entry using the Department of Health QuickWIC Data System.
Promote personal and co-worker safety during work duties.
High School diploma or GED required.
Minimum of six months related work experience.
Competency in computer skills in a Windows based environment.
Demonstrate ability to perform computer skills in specialized computer application(s) as needed.
Access to transportation in the Agency service area with valid Pennsylvania driver's license and auto liability insurance.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
